SVNTOZ Showcases Hard House Sound on Paradigm Shift Mix

After a brief hiatus, SVNTOZ is back in full force, showcasing a new sound that catapults hard house into the future!

SVNTOZ is a pivotal figure in the history of Mexico’s growing hard dance scene. Over the years, he’s been a mainstay of Harsh Records, had his music played on the grandest festival stages, and helped lead the short-lived but explosive hard house resurgence in 2016. To better understand his story, however, it’s best to start back before he was involved in the scene.

Music was always a deep interest for SVNTOZ. He explored many genres until he discovered electronic music and became entrapped in the scene. At a party one day, his friend recommended him as a DJ. This officially marked the beginning of his career. At first, he only played small events, but attending large-scale festivals kept him motivated to pursue this path seriously. After a while, he decided to dive into music production so he could express the way music made him feel.

SVNTOZ’s output took him many places, including shows all over Mexico, including Harsh Records showcases. One of his greatest achievements, however, came when GORDO, fka Carnage, played out his track on kineticFIELD at EDC Las Vegas in 2016.

Despite his success, SVNTOZ decided to step away from the scene after some time. “It was never planned,” he said. “There simply came a point when I became more demanding of myself and my sound. I felt like I needed to pause to continue evolving, improve my method, and rethink the direction of my artistic project,” he told EDM Identity.

Earlier this year, SVNTOZ made his long-awaited return with his latest release, “Louder, Darker Stronger.” While this record is reminiscent of the signature style he was known for in the past, he ensured that it blended elements from different genres into a freshly updated sound that catapults hard house into the future.

SVNTOZ said, “This track represents much of what influences me today. It contains the energetic essence of hard dance, but integrates elements of techno and trance that have inspired me in this era. It’s a sound that unleashes energy on the dancefloor and is used when you need to access the beyond.”

Keeping the momentum going since his return to the hard dance scene, SVNTOZ has kindly stopped by to deliver a fiery guest mix on our hard dance mix series, Paradigm Shift. For 30 minutes, SVNTOZ takes listeners on a journey through his best records like “Midnight” with Quasar, “The Underground,” and “Louder, Darker, Stronger.” He even treats listeners to five unreleased, original IDs!

Mexico has lots of talent in the hard dance scene — incredible DJs and producers. If we came together as a community, we could achieve something great despite this genre not being commercial in the country yet. At a global scale, I see a tendency toward raw and powerful sounds, opening the door for hard dance to evolve and expand. The key is to keep creating with authenticity and connecting with others who feel this energy.
